Wax can be confusing and stressful, especially if it is your first time. Here are answers to our most common customer questions.

  • What is hard waxing?
    • Hard waxing is a hair removal method using warm melted wax. No cloth strips are needed. Melted wax is spread directly on your body, it quickly hardens and adheres to only your unwanted hair. Waxing pulls the hair from the root and leaves the skin incredibly smooth. This method lasts longer than shaving.
  • I'm a dude, will this product work for me?
    • Well aloha, handsome! Absolutely, don’t let our pretty wax scare you. This is powerful stuff and works amazing for men.
  • Why wax at home?
    • Why not! Kolua Wax is quick, incredibly clean & cost-effective. It’s easier than you think to get salon-quality waxing from the privacy of your home.
  • Does waxing hurt?
    • We’re not going to lie to you. Pulling hair from its root can cause some people a small amount of discomfort. Everyone’s comfort level varies. But Kolua Wax is an amazing choice when it comes to performance and quality. We have tested formula after formula and we’re confident our wax is superior with less discomfort than traditional waxing methods.
  • How long should my hair growth be for waxing?
    • We recommend that your hair be at least a 1/4 inch long. If your hair is too short, the wax won’t have enough to grip and your results won’t be as successful.
  • Is my hair too long to wax?
    • Waxing hair that is too long can be a bit tricky, we suggest that you trim hair down to ½ inch before waxing.
  • How long before I need to wax again?
    • Hair growth is different for everyone but results can last 3 to 6 weeks.
  • Can I use Kolua Wax on my face?
    • Yes, you can. Both Bare-Faced and Best Loved wax are perfect for sensitive skin and fine facial hair
  • Can I use Kolua Wax for a bikini or a Brazilian wax?
    • Absolutely! Our wax is gentle on delicate skin, but powerful on coarse hair making it the perfect bikini wax.
  • I'm pregnant, can I wax?
    • Congratulations and yes! But be aware, that pregnancy hormones can cause your skin to be more sensitive. If you have any other concerns, please ask your physician.
  • Will the wax burn the skin if applied at a higher temp?
    • Yes, it could. It is best to have the wax set between 130-160 degrees on the warmer. The bead should be the consistency of honey.
  • Will I get ingrown hairs when waxing?
    • For a select few, waxing seems to cause ingrown hairs while others confirm that waxing is the only solution they've found to avoid them. The vast majority of customers have no issue or concern with ingrown hairs either way.
  • Can you use the wax over and over?
    • Once the wax is used on the body, no, you would not want to melt and use that wax again. Any wax left in the bowl can be stored and used for later.
  • Can you use the all-over for the face, or the legs, or the face one for bikini areas?
    • Yes, you can use Best Loved (pink) for the face and legs. We market this formula as being the best wax for "one quick waxing session- head to toe". It will target both soft and coarse hair well and is gentle enough for the face. The Bare Faced (white) would technically be safe to use on the bikini area but we would not recommend it because it may not be strong enough for coarse hair.
